Nigerian army to pay N1.25m for assaulting nollywood actress

A federal high court sitting in port Harcourt on Friday ordered the Nigerian army to pay the sum of N1.25m and to publish a written apology in at least two national dailies to nollywood actress Ebere ohakwe for assaulting her on her way to Onitsha,from port Harcourt.nigerian army stationed at images axis of port Harcourt airport road stopped the vehicle for a routine stop and search,and in the process started adsulassau her.mohammed Adamu,a federal high court on march 2018 ordered the defendant to pay the sum of N1m to the plaintiff as compensation for infringing on her fundamental human rights.

Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has filed papers in court challenging the ban placed by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on his song, “This is Nigeria”. The court documents were filed through Falz’s lawyers, Adepetun Caxton-Martins Agbor & Segun (ACAS-Law), on November, 6, 2018, three months after the NBC sent a letter to JODAJ Global Communications Limited in Jos sanctioning them for playing Falz’s song, “This Is Nigeria” and banning the song from being played on radio, along with other songs. In the letter sent to JODAJ Global Communications Limited, NBC stated that the reason for banning This Is Nigeria is that the lyrics are vulgar and in contravention of the NBC Code. A lot of Nigerians, including celebrities, criticized NBC for the ban, stating it was ridiculous, but the ban was upheld. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, has said the Army cannot face its members, who are Shi’ites, if they had weapons. Making the claim, Monday, at a briefing on the recent clash between soldiers and its members in Abuja, Abdullahi Zango, leader of the group, said the statement issued by the military and Police over the killing of Shi’ites were “fabricated lies cooked up to cover their atrocities.”While accusing the soldiers of attacking defenceless protesters, Zango said: “They continue to say that we are armed.
